## What is PAGA?

The World Economic Forum and the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB Lab) have launched PAGA (Payments to Advance Growth for All), a joint project to unlock the benefits of digital payments in Latin America and the Caribbean.


## Why Digital Payments?

Digital payments are the cornerstone of a digitally empowered economy. E-commerce, financial inclusion, and government payments highly depend on them.


## Do Digital Payments Benefit MSMEs?

They allow businesses to reach more customers, more markets, and level the playing field between large and small merchants.


## Our timeline


## Phase I: 2021/22

The objective of Phase I was to provide a timely snapshot of the most pressing issues to further advance digital payments in LAC. With representation from over 100 public and private organizations, various deliverables were produced in this area such as a joint report in English and Spanish, an agenda blog by Nubank, and social media videos and messages.


## Phase II: 2024

The objective of Phase II is to exchange best practices that could inspire further digital payments adoption in the region. The community will discuss best practices from the region and beyond, focusing on interoperability, cross-border transactions, and financial inclusion.

## Phase III: 2025 and Beyond

We are now preparing for Phase III of the PAGA Initiative, expanding our exploration of digital payments and cross-border solutions globally.
